We made this stand up paper plate angel in preparation for Easter. (We’ll be using this angel to tell the Easter story with the kids.)
This paper plate angel was super simple to make and took all of about 5 minutes. The kids loved making this craft with lots of sparkles and feathers.
For mine, I used some scraps of lace, some raffia for hair, and lots of glitter. (One can never have too much glitter.)
How to Make a Stand-Up Paper Plate Angel
This stand-up paper plate angel is simple to make for both adults and kids. For the littlest kids, the adult in charge may want to cut and glue the angel and let the littles decorate. Older kids can do all the steps themselves.
Materials needed
- paper plate (we made these will little paper plates – you could also make giant angels with big paper plates)
- glue (I used hot glue – good quality white glue will also do the trick)
- scissors
- 1/2 a pipe cleaner (for the halo)
- a paper or cardstock circle (for the head)
- decorations (markers, glitter, scraps of lace or fabric, paint, stickers, etc.)
How to Make Your Angel
- Cut about 1/4 out of your paper plate, in a triangle shape.
- Roll the corner of the paper plate in and glue it (you’ll be gluing it someone around the center). This makes 1 wing with the remainder of the paper plate that’s sticking out.
- Glue the 1/4 paper plate that you cut out to the center back, to make the other wing.
- Cut a circle out of paper or card stock for the head and glue it to the top center of the paper plate angel.
- Take 1/2 a pipe cleaner (a whole pipe cleaner if you’re using a big plate) and twist it into a halo shape.
- Glue the halo to the back of the head.
- Decorate your paper plate angel with whatever fun, colourful, and fluffy stuff that you have around.
